ABOUT THE LIVING LIFE IN COSTA RICA BLOG

I (Vicki Skinner - aka "THE Sarong Goddess") created this blog in 2007 to share DETAILED Finds•Lists•Info•Events•Experiences to help bring more EASE to people living in, visiting or thinking of moving to Costa Rica since DETAILS are NOT easy to find!
I’m NOT an expert (an "expert" 2 ME knows 101%-NOT me). I believe in sharin info•helping where I can! And with over 2,200 entries, so some things might be out of date, so if you find old info PLEASE help each other by getting the updated info & sharing it with me to revise. At least you have some basic info to get you started.
VOLUNTEER TO HELP:
Better yet - do you have extra time on your hands & looking for a volunteer project? Since this blog is a labor of love & RARELY does anyone share a donation (even though MANY have said how much it's helped them), I could REALLY use help updating info. Spanish speakers ESPECIALLY welcome since my VicLish can be somewhat limited at times!!

DONATE:
Has my blog helped in any way? Helped find something•brought more EASE? More exposure or business?
I welcome you to show YOUR appreciation for my efforts!
ANY size DONATION is APPRECIATED!
(see below other ways to show your appreciation)
The easiest way is with PAYPAL - Attn: LivingLifeInCostaRica@gmail.com
(you do NOT need to have a PayPal account to do this - just a credit or debit card)
ADD INFORMATION:
Do YOU have/know of a Business•Event•News•Place•Things 4 Sale•Rent to add? Email:

ACCIDENTS • TRAFFIC JAMS in Costa Rica - Ideas on what to do in one - aka - How to make the MOST of a REALLY FRUSTRATING situation•time

This is what Costa Rican's could start doing to "ride out" these 2+ hours (sometimes) traffic backups where traffic comes to a COMPLETE HALT because of an accident!!!  Be it someone with a guitar in their car or blasting some FUN (agreeable to the masses) music to sing-along or dance to - or better yet - something to sing AND dance to!!!  It SURELY WILL take our minds off of the situation we're in!!  Make the MOST of it!!  Live in JOY!!!!  (NO mariachi's PLEASE if I'm there!!)

(2 weeks ago I was in one of those 2 hour traffic jams as I was coming back from a Visa Run on a Friday night on the PanAmerican Highway [sitting in a running bus - luckily it was NOT a bus with air-conditioning as fumes could easily have been going back in the bus, and luckily it was not raining at THAT moment since it had been 20 minutes before we stopped - and luckily I had an open window seat] and trust you me, the people [myself included!!!] did not seem to be in their "happy space"!)

TRAVELERS IN COSTA RICA HINT!!
If you have a flight to catch - do NOT risk getting stuck in this situation which DOES happen ALL to OFTEN (ESPECIALLY in Rainy Season it seems. Anyone know if it's true??).  Stay in a hotel CLOSE to the airport the NIGHT BEFORE!!  EVEN if you have a flight before noon!!  If you don't - allow yourself to arrive at LEAST 6 hours BEFORE you're supposed to get there because if you miss your flight - YOU WILL be buying yourself another ticket and most likely Full-Price as it was NOT the airlines fault!!

HOTELS
(I'm slowly working on a list of hotels•places to stay nearby)

SAFETY
WhatEVER you do - IDEALLY try to go and check your luggage in and go out exploring around - or at least put your luggage in your TRUNK BEFORE getting to where you're stopping off to eat or whatever as people ARE WATCHING and can easily pop your trunk or a window (just like AAA can do).
