I (Vicki Skinner - aka "THE Sarong Goddess") created this blog in 2007 to share DETAILED Finds•Lists•Info•Events•Experiences to help bring more EASE to people living in, visiting or thinking of moving to Costa Rica since DETAILS are NOT easy to find!
I’m NOT an expert (an "expert" 2 ME knows 101%-NOT me). I believe in sharin info•helping where I can! And with over 2,200 entries, so some things might be out of date, so if you find old info PLEASE help each other by getting the updated info & sharing it with me to revise. At least you have some basic info to get you started.

PRICE • SALARY•WAGE • TAX INCREASES & NEW LAW in Costa Rica - When do they go into effect

 "WOW - IT SEEMS LIKE PRICES HAVE GONE UP A LOT RECENTLY.  WHY?"

WARNING!!  If something is going up in price in Costa Rica (ESPECIALLY salaries•wages [and Costa Rica is VERY PRO employees], tolls and bus prices) - chances are REALLY GOOD it will go into effect on/around the first of January!!

Also, MANY taxes (like the tax for corporations/S.A.s and some other thing), are based on whatever position they have designated's monthly salary - so that means if their salary goes up - so does that tax!

Also, annual inflation in Costa Rica is on the high side.

The same January 1 timeframe is often the start date often for many new laws - THOUGH - OFTEN they fail to remind you just before it goes into effect!!
