ABOUT THE LIVING LIFE IN COSTA RICA BLOG

I (Vicki Skinner - aka "THE Sarong Goddess") created this blog in 2007 to share DETAILED Finds•Lists•Info•Events•Experiences to help bring more EASE to people living in, visiting or thinking of moving to Costa Rica since DETAILS are NOT easy to find!
I’m NOT an expert (an "expert" 2 ME knows 101%-NOT me). I believe in sharin info•helping where I can! And with over 2,200 entries, so some things might be out of date, so if you find old info PLEASE help each other by getting the updated info & sharing it with me to revise. At least you have some basic info to get you started.
VOLUNTEER TO HELP:
Better yet - do you have extra time on your hands & looking for a volunteer project? Since this blog is a labor of love & RARELY does anyone share a donation (even though MANY have said how much it's helped them), I could REALLY use help updating info. Spanish speakers ESPECIALLY welcome since my VicLish can be somewhat limited at times!!

DONATE:
Has my blog helped in any way? Helped find something•brought more EASE? More exposure or business?
I welcome you to show YOUR appreciation for my efforts!
ANY size DONATION is APPRECIATED!

HELP LOCATE BRIAN MALTEZ - Disappeared in the ocean off Punta Uva, Cahuita (on the Caribbean Side) - December 29, 2012

SADLY HIS BODY WAS FOUND - HE DIDN'T MAKE IT.
PROOF OF THE IMPORTANCE of knowing how to handle yourself in a RipTide - ESPECIALLY when you go into the ocean in Costa Rica at:
LivingLifeInCostaRica.blogspot.com/2013/01/riptides-cr.html

(InsideCostaRica.com) A 39 year old U.S. citizen, identified as Brian Maltez from San Antonio, Texas, was carried away by a wave in Punta Uva Beach in Cahuita, Talamanca on Saturday morning - December 29, 2012 around 8:30am.

Cleto Morales, from the Fuerza Publica (Public Police Force), stated that Manter was with friends right before the accident occurred.

“A 24 year old girl also disappeared with him. However, she was found alive about half an hour later. Her name is Domino Martinez and was transferred to the Home Creek Clinic in stable condition,” he said.

Another teenager also disappeared on December 27th in Coyote Beach, Nandayure.

The 13-year-old minor was with 2 other people who were also carried away by strong currents. They were immediately rescued.

The Red Cross has been searching the area since 4:30 a.m. on Friday.

Police lent emergency personnel an airplane so that they could conduct an areal search where the young man disappeared.

Does anyone know which way the tide might have taken someone that day and have they searched in that direction or at least contacted people in that direction?

To help with the search locally (in the Puerto Vieja/Caribbean area) - Contact the Cruz Roja•Red Cross at 2-751-0008 (if calling from the U.S. first dial 011-506).

IF you happen to see or hear of anything that can help his family, PLEASE contact Patty Harrell at 1-408-782-4677 or GeroHero40@gmail.com (if you don't have international calling access, I can make help you with that via Skype so contact me at 8-378-6679 or LivingLifeInCostaRica@gmail.com

Sending a Heart-to-Heart CONNECTION to ALL involved/friends and family of Brian Maltez - for a fast resolution to this tragedy!!
