I (Vicki Skinner - aka "THE Sarong Goddess") created this blog in 2007 to share DETAILED Finds•Lists•Info•Events•Experiences to help bring more EASE to people living in, visiting or thinking of moving to Costa Rica since DETAILS are NOT easy to find!
I’m NOT an expert (an "expert" 2 ME knows 101%-NOT me). I believe in sharin info•helping where I can! And with over 2,200 entries, so some things might be out of date, so if you find old info PLEASE help each other by getting the updated info & sharing it with me to revise. At least you have some basic info to get you started.
Better yet - do you have extra time on your hands & looking for a volunteer project? Since this blog is a labor of love & RARELY does anyone share a donation (even though MANY have said how much it's helped them), I could REALLY use help updating info. Spanish speakers ESPECIALLY welcome since my VicLish can be somewhat limited at times!!

Has my blog helped in any way? Helped find something•brought more EASE? More exposure or business?
I welcome you to show YOUR appreciation for my efforts!
(see below other ways to show your appreciation)
The easiest way is with PAYPAL - Attn: LivingLifeInCostaRica@gmail.com
(you do NOT need to have a PayPal account to do this - just a credit or debit card)
Do YOU have/know of a Business•Event•News•Place•Things 4 Sale•Rent to add? Email:

• APPLE LAPTOP - Do you have a Laptop you're not using? Mine recently broke so I'm using a lender. Must be new enough to run current Skypes & have an SDCard slot.
• Amazon.com or GoDaddy.com Credit•Gift Certificate (attn: SarongGoddess@gmail.com)
• Something else to share?? A gift certificate or invite for your business? I'm open!! (at times I'll add other things here that I'm seeking)

An Amusing way to learn Spanish - "Gay Spanish for Love + Hookups" Phrasebook

Have a thing for Spanish lovers/a Latin partner? Visiting a Spanish speaking country?

You HAVE to get a copy of:

"Gay Spanish for Love + Hookups"

They also have a combo book in Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, German, Czech, and English. Plus one in Italian. One in German and one in French.

Soon they're coming out with one for hetrosexuals (though I found their gay book QUITE helpful and amusing as did my "friends"!!).

Check out their amusing website http://www.GayBabel.net
(NOTE: This is a VERY SEXUALLY EXPLICIT LANGUAGE site so if you have an issue with it, simply don't go there [or get over it and learn some new things!!])

Where to find the OLD FASHIONED TDMA CELL PHONES in Costa Rica

I spent DAYS trying to find an old fashioned TDMA cell phones (for rent or sale) which at this point, I find BY FAR WAYYYY better than the GSM phones (CR still does not have enough GSM towers to support all the GSM phones out there so I'd say 60% of the time I call someone with a GSM phone I have to redial it a couple/few times before it connects and/or I call someone and they're "out of range") - only to find that THE place to get them were from my neighbors.

Tutto's Celular (2-289-4036 / 8-391-0604)

A Nokias (from what I hear, they are the sturdiest/best AND cheapest!!) withOUT vibration starts at 25,000-c.

Jorge and his son speak a fair amount of English and are REALLY HELPFUL (he can fix most cells himself also!!).

LOCATION: They are located ON Calle Vieja in Escazu (San Rafael) - 1 1/2 blocks West of the ICE office and 1 block East of Calle Country Club on the Santa Ana/Calle Veija bus line that leaves SJ from the CocaCola Building (215-c) and depending on traffic, an EASY ride (car or taxi) from San Jose).

Tell them Vicki sent you!
